A Psychological Assessment utilizes a number of tests that help a psychologist better understand a person and their behavior. It can help identify the core components of an individual's mental health concerns, personality, IQ, and/or other areas of behavior and emotional well-being. A Psychological Assessment can be combined with Neuropsychological tests as well, depending on the referral questions being answered.
Neuropsychological Assessments utilize a number of tests to assess various areas of behavior and cognition often associated with psychiatric, neurocognitive, and neurodevelopmental disorders. Such areas include: intellectual, memory, attention, learning, processing speed, abstract reasoning, visuospatial, and executive functioning.
Evaluations are tailored for the individual and the referral question. Depending on what kind of testing is being done, it can take several meetings. For more information, please contact Dr. Valencia-Payne.
