Dr. Valencia-Payne is a Licensed Clinical Neuropsychologist in the state of New York. She is dedicated to providing support to those navigating through challenges and life-changing events while finding ways to thrive in their experiences. She has worked in inpatient and outpatient settings in the NYC, Boston, and Chicago metropolitan areas and is now dedicated to providing services in the Rochester/Victor area and throughout NY state (telehealth).
She completed her pre-doctoral residency at Nassau University Medical Center where she provided inpatient and outpatient treatment with children/adolescents and adults. She completed her two-year postdoctoral residency in Neuropsychology and Psychotherapy at RobinsPsych; she currently holds candidacy for Board Certification in Clinical Neuropsychology (American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology). Dr. Valencia-Payne worked as the Director of Outpatient Neuropsychology for RobinsPsych for a couple of years before transitioning into the Clinical Director and Licensed Clinical Neuropsychologist for GeneseePsych (an affiliation of RobinsPsych) in Rochester, NY. Dr. Valencia-Payne is now the owner of her own private practice, VP Psychological Services, PLLC, providing services to Rochester/Victor areas, NYC, and across NY state.
Dr. Valencia-Payne has over fifteen years of experience and service, in multiple capacities, within the social services and mental health fields. Her clinical experiences have included group, individual, family, child/adolescent, and couples therapy in both outpatient and inpatient settings as well as providing comprehensive psychological/neuropsychological testing and evaluations. She has worked in multiple settings that include college counseling, substance abuse residential rehabilitation center, community centers, adult inpatient unit, child/adolescent inpatient unit, adult and child outpatient clinics, consult liaison and neuropsychology assessment, and Psychiatric Emergency Departments. Additionally, Dr. Valencia-Payne has provided services to children and adults with developmental disabilities, severe mental health concerns, behavioral and learning disabilities, personality disorders, and more. She conducts comprehensive evaluations, assessments/testing, case consultations, and supervision.
Dr. Valencia-Payne has received training in several theoretical and evidenced-based treatment modalities including psychodynamic therapies, psychoanalysis, Psychodrama, Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, Couples & Family Therapies, Person-Centered Therapies, Interpersonal Therapy, Substance Abuse & Alcohol Treatment, and Humanistic Therapies. She has an appreciation for and utilizes an integrative approach with a foundation in Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytic theory and therapies.
Dr. Valencia-Payne has experience providing neuropsychological assessments/testing and treatment for cases involving Worker's Compensation, No Fault/Motor Vehicle accidents, personal injury, and lien cases. She has also conducted independent medical evaluations, clearances for medical procedures (including spinal cord stimulators and bariatric surgeries), and is an independent consultant/contractor providing psychological services to individuals and organizations. Additionally, Dr. Valencia-Payne offers individual (child/adolescent/adult/older adult), group, and couples therapy, currently via telehealth.
